David Winston is an accomplished Herbalist and Ethnobotanist with 55 years of training in Chinese, Western/Eclectic, and Southeastern herbal traditions. He has been in clinical practice for 48 years and is an herbal consultant to physicians, herbalists, and researchers. David is the founder and director of the Herbal Therapeutics Research Library and the dean of David Winston’s Center for Herbal Studies. A leading voice in herbal education, David regularly lectures at medical schools and herbal conferences, and is a contributing educator here at the Herbal Academy. 

David is also the president of Herbalist & Alchemist, Inc., a manufacturer of herbal products. A founding member of the American Herbalist Guild, he also serves on the American Botanical Council and the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia Advisory Boards. He has authored and co-authored numerous books and articles on herbal medicine and contributed to the Botanical Safety Handbook. He has received multiple awards, including the AHPA Herbal Insights Award and the 2024 ABC Herbal Community Builder Award.
