VIRTUAL HERBALISM CONFERENCE - DAY 2

Constitutional Herbalism: Energetics for Individuals with Sajah Popham

In this session with Sajah Popham, we’ll explore the principles of Constitutional Herbalism and how a focus on energetics can deepen our approach to herbal practice. Clinical herbalist and co-founder of The School of Evolutionary Herbalism, Sajah brings a unique, vitalist perspective to healing, blending self-study with formal training from Bastyr University and apprenticeships with renowned herbalists like Paul Bergner, Margi Flint, and Matthew Wood. His work emphasizes plants as sentient beings that heal the body, psyche, and soul. Sajah shares his approach to herbalism, medical astrology, and spagyric alchemy, guiding transformational healing for individuals.

Discussion Highlights:

  • Understanding constitutional herbalism and its unique approach from other herbal practices.
  • How understanding an individual’s unique constitution helps us make more effective choices in herbs for that individual.
  • Tools used in assessing a person's constitution and individual energetic qualities.
  • Key differences in approaching acute versus chronic conditions with constitutional herbalism.
  • How to evaluate emotions and mental states in understanding a person’s energetics.
  • Common mistakes people make when trying to apply energetic herbalism.

Sajah Popham is the author of Evolutionary Herbalism, and the founder of the School of Evolutionary Herbalism and Natura Sophia Spagyrics. He trains herbalists in a holistic system of plant medicine that encompasses clinical Western herbalism, medical astrology, Ayurveda, and spagyric alchemy.

His comprehensive approach focuses on balancing the science and spirituality of plant medicine to heal the body, clarify the mind, open the heart, and support the development of the soul. This is achieved through working with the chemical, energetic, and spiritual properties of the plants.

His teachings embody a heartfelt respect, honor and reverence for the vast intelligence of plants in a way that empowers us to look deeper into the nature of our medicines and ourselves. He lives on a homestead in the foothills of Mt. Baker Washington with his wife and children where he teaches, consults clients, and prepares spagyric herbal medicines.
