VIRTUAL HERBALISM CONFERENCE - DAY 1

Tonic Herbs as Allies for Well-being in the Anthropocene with Guido Masé

Join clinical herbalist, educator, and author Guido Masé for a reflective exploration of tonic herbs in an era of rapid change and environmental uncertainty. Drawing from Western herbalism, clinical experience, and his work as Head Formulator at Traditional Medicinals, Guido shares how tonic herbs cultivate resilience, vitality, and long-term well-being. Rooted in the enduring relationship between humans and plants, this conversation invites us to consider how herbal allies can support both personal health and the well-being of the planet we inhabit.

Discussion Highlights:

  • Defining the Anthropocene era and the term tonic
  • Three underappreciated tonic herbs worth wider use
  • Preparation methods that best preserve tonic plant virtues
  • Formulating with tonic herbs versus using simples
  • Shared energetics, flavors, and phytochemical patterns among tonic herbs
  • Simple, sustainable ways to integrate tonic herbs into daily life
  • Evaluating sustainability in tonic herb sourcing and recognizing when to shift practices
  • Strength of evidence-based research on tonic herbs and notable studies

Guido is a clinician and herbal educator specializing in Western herbalism, with an eclectic approach shaped by many traditions.
