VIRTUAL HERBALISM CONFERENCE - DAY 4
What Every Herbalist Should Know About Regulations and Plant Sourcing with Steven Yeager
This session offers a clear, practical look at how herbs move from source to shelf with Steven Yeager, Executive Vice President and longtime Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs at Mountain Rose Herbs. We’ll cover Good Manufacturing Practices, labeling laws, global trade considerations, adulteration concerns, and sustainability challenges. - Overview of herbal regulations and what they mean for everyday herbalists
- Good Manufacturing Practices in action and why they matter
- Essential documentation and record-keeping for compliance
- Key questions to ask when evaluating herbal suppliers
- Verifying quality and authenticity when sourcing herbs internationally
- Role of certifications such as organic, fair trade, and forest-grown
- Common labeling mistakes and how to avoid them
