VIRTUAL HERBALISM CONFERENCE - DAY 2

Crafty with Herbs: Inspiring Makers, Crafters, and Creators with Cat Seixas, Hannah Lasorsa, and Robyn Chubey

This panel celebrates the playful, creative side of herbalism, where curiosity meets craft. Herbal crafting is where tradition meets imagination. It’s where practical skills intertwine with personal expression. As makers, educators, and herbalists, our three panelists—Cat Seixas, Hannah Lasorsa, and Robyn Chubey—share favorite projects, insights, and inspirations, showing how creativity deepens our relationship with plants and supports nervous system nourishment through mindful, inventive practice.

Discussion Highlights:

  • Herbs that inspire creativity and express artistic style
  • Simple, meaningful projects that connect everyday herbs to handcrafted items
  • Natural colorants from herbs for dyeing, paints, or homemade inks, with beginner tips
  • Crafts that preserve fresh herbs or extend their life in artwork
  • Using herbs internally to enhance inspiration and creative flow
  • Ideas for accessible, joyful community herbal crafting circles

Cat Seixas, partnerships lead at the Herbal Academy, folk herbalist, textile artist, bioregionalist, land steward, writer and mother living on the Portuguese hills. She loves navigating the dichotomy of living off-grid and having a social media presence, and is a firm believer in social media as a tool for practical magic. Most days, she can be found tending to her vegetable and medicinal garden, spinning wool under the olive trees or roaming the hills with a foraging basket in hands, to make herbal support for her community.
